The markets will be down tomorrow because there isn’t a clear winner in the US election (apparently Wall Street hates uncertainty). No matter what the pundits say, it’s unlikely we’ll know the outcome until all the absentee ballots are counted, and then in come the lawyers.

We, by which I mean “Americans”, needed to make a clear declaration. We either needed to repudiate the Bush Administration’s record, or we needed to endorse it. We failed to do either. In a country of 300 million people we’re now talking about 2000 votes here and 16000 votes here. If you were to imagine Las Vegas (NM) determining the future of the United States, you’d have the right idea.
